We take the quality of our book seriously. And when we say quality, hindi lang ‘yung pabalat ng libro o ‘yung papel, kung ‘di pati na rin ‘yung nilalaman mismo ng libro.
Entering the Gates to Psydem Publishing’s The Art of Braveity
How would I describe our next feature? Siguro, maihahalintulad ko ito sa isang kuwento. A tale.
And the story goes like this:
Once upon a time, there were two friends who dreamed about building a “house.”
The first friend asked, “Can we do it?”
The second friend answered, “Of course, we can.”
And so they built one.
The first friend said, “Now we have a ‘house’. But there are empty rooms.”
“Then, we need more friends to share our home with,” the second friend replied.
And so they invited more friends to live with them.
The first friend said, “Now, our ‘house’ is full, and we are happier than before. But I think we need to spread out our happiness.”
The second friend answered, “Then, let’s share it with others.”
And so they opened all their windows and doors — wide enough — to let their happiness be seen and heard by those people who passed by their ‘house.’
The story of two friends continued, until all their hard work came to fruition…
…Until The Art of Braveity was produced.
However, it was not yet the end. Because the real story of their dreams had only just begun.
Dreams remain as dreams unless they become real.
MS. SJM ARMENTA: Psydem came from the words Psycho Tandem. Mitchie and I are writing tandems at parehas kaming baliw (not literally, of course), kaya s’ya Psycho Tandem. It all started noong nawala ‘yung Parhelix. It was also an indie pub group na pinamunuan nina Rhisa Rey, Jean Rose and Alie Olli. No one knows why. That’s how it all started.
S: Paano nabuo ang Team Psydem?
MS. So we came up with this idea na bumuo ng group of writers na magsusulat para sa amin. Kaya nagpa-audition kami for resident writers. Pinapasa namin ‘yung interested writers ng one shot story in any genre. All of those na makakakuha ng 75 and above na grade from us will automatically be our resident writers. So ayun, 16 ‘yung nakapasa sa audition na ‘yun. Doon nabuo ‘yung Team Psydem.
MS. SJM: We take the quality of our book seriously. You see, books that came from indie pub groups are expensive so we want to make sure that our buyers’ money will not be wasted.
S: What is The Art of Braveity? What is it all about?
MS. SJM: The Art of Braveity is a compilation of 50 flash fiction stories in different genre. Braveity came from the root word, Brave and Brevity. Technically, The Art of Braveity means the bravery of a writer to write concisely. Walang specific theme ang mga kwento but they are all worth reading.
S: How do you come up with the idea of creating such kind of book?
MS. SJM: The idea was inspired from the Championship round of Protege (Wattpad) where I was one of the judges. So ayun.
S: Can you describe your experience in working with your Resident Writers?
MS. SJM: Iba-iba. But nevertheless, we are all proud of them.
MS. SJM: We are not expecting anything but we are hoping na maganda ‘yung feedback ng mga magbabasa sa bawat kwentong kasama sa libro.
MS. SJM: Yep! We are coming up with a new compilation of stories. 10 stories that will show 10 different issues that our country is facing nowadays. And before this year ends, hopefully, makapag-release din kami ng isang novel.
You all rock!
